Build on Origin Cloud
What the platform can do, written for someone calling the GraphQL API or the origin CLI, not for someone reading the source. Every page says what kind it is (overview, concept, task, reference, troubleshooting or tutorial), so you know whether to read or to do.
Two ways in, one platform
- GraphQL API
admin · compute · pvs · network · iam · observability- origin CLI
id · admin · config · compute · storage · network · iam- Price list
GET /v1/pricing · public REST, no token
Every task shows the CLI command and the API operation. Observability and Pricing have no CLI commands.

- ObservabilityObservability lets you query CPU, network, and disk metrics that the platform collects for your instances, volumes, and network interfaces.API observabilityCLI none
- PricingThe public price list gives the current list price of every billable product, in euro, over HTTP without an account or token.API REST GET /v1/pricingCLI none

Start hereTutorial
Register an organization, add a payment method, launch your first instance with the origin CLI, log in to it over SSH, and clean up afterwards.
Before you begin
- A Linux or macOS computer with ssh, ssh-keygen and curl
- Your company's billing details, with an address in the EU
- A credit or debit card for the payment method
Then clean up. You pay for a few minutes of one gp1.core.2 instance, its volume and its public address.

Common tasks
- Launch an instanceLaunch a virtual machine with the CLI or the API - choose an image, instance type, key pair, network and root disk - and log in over SSH.
- Attach and detach an Internet GatewayAttach an Internet Gateway to connect a whole VPC to the internet, check it, and detach it again to make the VPC private.
- Create and protect a snapshotTake a crash-consistent snapshot of an available or attached volume, wait for it to complete, and protect it so it can be used as a clone source.
- Assign and revoke rolesGrant a built-in role to a user or service account org-wide or for one project, and revoke it again at exactly the scope it was granted.
- Query metricsQuery the CPU, network, or volume metrics of one resource over a time window with the GraphQL API, and choose the period and statistic.
- Add a payment methodAdd a card to a billing account on the payment provider's hosted page, confirm it, and check paymentMethodStatus so the account's projects can create billable resources.
